Lost a full day to a clogged cutterhead on the Willamette last week

Came in Monday morning, suction dropped to nothing. Spent 6 hours pulling the ladder, clearing roots and a goddamn tire. Shovel broke on the second scoop. Foreman just said "keep at it." Anyone else have weeks where the only thing moving fast is your blood pressure?

Six hours on a clogged cutterhead? Sounds like a Tuesday to me, honestly. But that shovel breaking on the second scoop is a special kind of insult, I know that feeling. Almost had the same thing happen last month down on the Snake, but I was smart enough to bring a backup, or maybe just lucky. Still, nothing beats that slow burn when your foreman tells you to "keep at it" like you weren't already covered in muck. At least you got that tire out, small victories.

Man wait hold on. Luna did you just say you had a backup shovel on the Snake? That's wild to me. I've never in my life met anyone who brought a spare shovel to a cutterhead job, that's like bringing an extra pair of boots just in case the first ones get muddy. I gotta start doing that, seriously.
