Switched from a 4-inch to a 6-inch suction hose on my cutterhead dredge
For years on my river jobs, I ran a 4-inch hose on the cutterhead and just dealt with the clogs, especially in that thick clay near the bank. A guy on a job in Mobile Bay last month had the same setup but with a 6-inch line, and his production was nearly double with zero downtime from blockages. I switched mine over, and after a full 10-hour shift, the difference is night and day. The bigger diameter just moves material so much smoother. Anyone else made a simple hose swap that fixed a major headache?

Our 4-inch handles clay better, honestly.

Tell me about it. I switched to a 4-inch last season and it just powers through the wet stuff. You get that clean cut without all the clogging, right? Makes a long day feel a bit shorter.
