Finally figured out dim lighting for lash extensions after a client squinted in Chicago
I was working on a client in Chicago last month and she kept squinting so bad I thought she was falling asleep. Turns out my overhead light was casting shadows right where I needed to see. Has anyone else dealt with finding the right angle for their treatment light?

Oh man, I actually read a tip about this from a tech in New York who swears by using a ring light on a flexible arm (total game changer, apparently). She said it lets you angle it from above or the side so you avoid those weird shadows. Might be worth trying before you throw your current light out the window.

Flexible arm ring lights have their place. But they give off that harsh, flat look. Like you're filming a tutorial or something. I tried one. Returned it the same week. The shadows disappear, sure, but so does any depth or texture. Your face turns into a smooth disc. Not a great look for video calls either. I'd rather have a couple small softboxes you can move around. Way more natural.
