My neighbor told me my new siding looks like a hospital
We were having a beer on his porch in Cincinnati when he said the bright white vinyl I picked makes the whole house feel cold and sterile. He pointed at his own place, which has that warm cedar shake look, and said 'Homes should feel lived in, not clean.' It hit me that I chose for easy upkeep, not for how it feels to come home. Anyone else get stuck on the practical side and forget the mood?

omg @elliotburns I feel that but my vinyl is cream colored and my buddy still called it "dentist office chic" rip. Picked it for zero maintenance and now I just stare at the beige abyss every time I pull into the driveway.

Nah, practical is king. You'll get tired of maintenance way before you get tired of clean.
