Honestly, I always thought silk was the most expensive fabric until I saw a price tag for vicuña wool at a trade show in Milan.

Tbh, I just read in a textile sourcing guide that a single yard of vicuña can cost over $3,000, which completely changed my mind about using it for a high-end coat design I've been sketching.

Ever wonder how much of that insane cost is just for the legal permits to even shear a vicuña?

Yeah, the legal permit costs are no joke. I looked into it once for a project, and the fees for shearing and export licenses were more than the actual fiber cost. It's a huge chunk of the final price.
