Had to pick between a clean serif or a quirky script for a bakery logo

I was working on a logo for a new sourdough bakery in town called 'The Daily Rise'. The owner wanted something that felt both classic and a bit playful. I narrowed it down to two directions: pairing a clean serif like Garamond with a simple sans, or using a friendly script font for the name with a basic serif for the tagline. I went with the script option, 'Brittany Signature', paired with a light weight of Lora for the 'Artisan Bread Since 2024' line. The client loved the handmade feel, but I'm second-guessing if it will look dated in a few years. Has anyone else used a script for a food brand and had it hold up over time?

Man, scripts can be tricky. I've seen a few local cafes use them and they look great for a while, but some do start to feel old. The key is keeping everything else super simple. If your script is the only fancy part, and the rest of the branding is clean, it usually lasts longer.

Remember that 90s diner with the neon script?
