Warning: I was wasting a full hour a day on layer selection in Illustrator

Oh man, that "Select Similar" trick is a lifesaver. I was pulling my hair out trying to pick a single thin line from a whole mess of them (like @paul_sanchez probably gets with wiring diagrams). The real time-suck for me is when everything is nested in a group and you need just one weird shape. Sometimes I just ungroup the whole thing in a copy of the file, which feels like cheating, but it works.

My whole writing week got wrecked by a single bad prompt

Ugh, I feel this in my bones. That first prompt is like being handed a brick and told to build a house with no tools. A door is just a thing, who cares? But a monster with a job? That's a story waiting to happen. You're right, it's all about giving you a person who has to deal with something right now. I've wasted so much time staring at those pretty but empty ideas that go nowhere. What was the worst prompt you ever got stuck on?

I finally switched from a regular jig to a Kreg pocket hole jig for face frames

Buddy of mine tried that, still got gaps until he switched to a self centering bit.

I celebrated a prompt goof by finishing a story

Love how you turned a prompt mix-up into a contest entry. Mixing "key" and "quay" is a perfect happy accident. Your writing group must have been delighted by the nautical twist. It is ironic that a simple error sparked such creativity. Sending it off to a contest is a bold step. This might just be your best mistake yet.

City put fancy grass in the park, and it's hurting our local plants and animals.

Man, you can actually get the city to fix this. We convinced ours to add clover patches by showing how it cuts upkeep costs. It made a big change for bees and birds.
