My camera's autofocus failed while I was shooting in a desert
I was in the Sahara last month, and my DSLR's autofocus just stopped working. The sand and heat probably messed with the motors. I had to manually focus for the rest of the trip, which was tough but taught me a lot. I tried blowing out the sand with a rocket blower, but it didn't help much. When I got home, I opened it up and cleaned the contacts carefully. Now it works fine, but I'm more cautious about dust. Has anyone else had gear issues in extreme places? What's your go-to fix for sand in cameras?
