inTried a weird trick with pattern overlays on a map project and it actually worked
Reminds me of how we all end up making our own systems when the default ones fail. My kid's school sends home permission slips on bright orange paper because the white ones kept getting lost in backpacks. It's the same kind of fix, just finding what actually works.

inHad to pick between a full avionics suite upgrade or just the comms on a Cessna 172 last quarter.
Yeah, the extra labor on those full avionics packages is a killer. We did a similar panel overhaul last year and the wiring alone ate up a ton of unbilled shop time. Future-proofing is smart, but you really feel that labor cost later.

inHad a 6.7 Powerstroke with a weird injector knock that wouldn't show on the scan tool.
Read a forum post where a guy swore his diesel had rod knock. He replaced the main bearings before finding a cracked flex plate, the noise was just echoing through the block. Makes you want to start with the cheap stuff first.

inFound a hairline crack in a 3-year-old weld on a steam drum in Houston
Seen that kind of delayed failure in all sorts of things, not just welds. A roof shingle looks fine for a decade then just splits one winter. Makes you question all the stuff we think is solid and done, you know? The initial test says it's good, but time always finds the weak spot.

inCan we talk about those online charts that use only red and green?
Tell me about it. My last boss sent out a pie chart where the red and green slices looked identical to me. I had to guess which part was our biggest expense. @dixon.rose has the right idea with those simulators. I run everything through a free one now before any meeting. It shows you what your graph looks like to different types of colorblind people. It saved me from sending a totally confusing bar chart to our whole team last week.
