Hotel loyalty points are a scam in most countries now

I checked three hotels in Tokyo last month and the points required went from 12,000 per night to 18,000 since 2021. That is a 50% increase for the SAME room. People keep saying it isnt a big deal because you get points from credit card spending too but that assumes you put every single purchase on a co-branded card. Most people dont. They use a regular cash back card or a generic travel card. The real issue is the devaluation is happening faster than you can earn the points. I saw a Hilton in London that went from 50,000 points to 95,000 in two years. That is basically doubling the cost. At that rate you are better off finding a deal on Booking.com and paying cash.

TIL most people are using way too much water when they pour over

Yeah, that "dumping the whole kettle in 15 seconds" thing is exactly what I was doing for months. I thought more water faster meant more extraction or something, I don't know. Then I watched a YouTube video where a guy did a slow, steady pour over like a minute and a half and I tried it. Huge difference. The coffee was way less bitter and I could actually taste notes in it instead of just "hot brown water." Now I aim for that thin stream and it takes me about two minutes total, and I honestly can't go back to the fast pour.

Stopped paying for coworking spaces after figuring out this library hack in Lisbon

Isn't it wild how many things we're told we gotta pay for that really have a free version?

PSA: I stopped using clip-on fender covers and went back to the magnetic kind

The tape and towel method is honestly underrated. I've been doing that for years on my own truck and it works just as good as any expensive cover. The trick is just make sure the tape is clean and you're not pressing it into any dirt. Idk why people get so caught up in the whole magnetic thing, because like you said, one bump and it's gone. Plus those magnets can mess with the paint if there's any metal debris stuck to them. Painter's tape is cheap and you can toss it when it's dirty.
