My sister told me to pick colors from a photo of my dog, and it actually worked
I was stuck on a logo for a local pet sitting business, and my sister (who is not a designer, by the way) saw me struggling. She said, 'Just look at your dog, his fur has the best colors.' I rolled my eyes but took a picture of my golden retriever, Cooper. I pulled the main tan from his coat, a soft brown from his nose, and a little highlight color from the lighter fur around his neck. I used those three shades as my base palette, and it completely changed the feel of the design. It went from looking generic and forced to warm and friendly instantly. I never would have thought to pull inspiration from something so simple in my own house. Has anyone else found a good palette in a totally unexpected place like that?
