I used to doubt flexible hours, but letting my team choose their start times improved our output. Celebrating a smooth week!

My old company tried flexible hours for six months and it was a mess. People started working at all different times and we could never get a quick answer because half the team was offline. It actually made projects take longer because we were always waiting for replies. The lack of a shared schedule killed our ability to work together on the spot. I saw more mistakes happen when people were tired and working odd hours alone. A clear start time keeps everyone on the same page and accountable.

Honestly, I've seen the opposite happen. Giving my team that control cut way down on burnout and midday slumps. It's not about no structure, it's about trusting adults to know when they work best. The quality and speed improved for months, not just one week.

Yeah but is it REALLY the flexible hours though? One smooth week could just be a coincidence, or maybe the project was just easier. Some teams actually get worse when you take away structure, like if people's schedules never overlap.
