Heads up about that 'definitive' anime watch order list that's been going around
Last month, I was trying to get into the Fate series and found this super detailed guide on a fan site, claiming to be the 'only correct way' to watch. It had like 15 steps, mixing movies, OVAs, and specific seasons from different years. I followed it for three weeks, and honestly, it totally killed my enjoyment. The constant jumping around made the story feel choppy, and I missed character connections because the guide skipped some early world-building episodes. A friend in my local anime club in Austin said he just watched the main series in release order and loved it. Now I'm back at square one and have to rewatch a bunch. Has anyone else had a watch order guide completely backfire on them?

Man, that Fate guide sounds like a total nightmare. I tried one of those for the Monogatari series last year, a 20 step list that made you swap between story arcs from different seasons. It felt like doing homework, not watching a show. I gave up after two weeks and just started from the beginning. Sometimes these super detailed orders just overcomplicate something that should be fun.

What gets me is how these guides assume everyone wants the same thing. Like, some people just want to see Saber's story first, and that's fine. The "perfect order" tries to make one show fit all viewers, but we all watch for different reasons. I followed a complex order for Haruhi once and missed the simple fun of just watching the episodes.
