That's an interesting take, but I feel like it misses the mark. A truly great anime, like Cowboy Bebop, leaves you feeling full, not empty. The best stories give you something to carry with you, not just a sense of lost hours.

Honestly I feel like everyone's overthinking this. Some shows are just fun to watch and then you move on, it doesn't have to be some deep thing. @amy53 mentioned a beautiful waste and yeah that's kinda the whole point, sometimes you just kick back and let the hours fly by.
