Serious question, does taking a FRIGIDAIRE main board with you to the supply house actually help match the right part?

Hold up, wait a minute. You do what now? You actually haul the whole dang main board out of the fridge and take it with you to the supply house? I mean, I get wanting to get the right part, but that seems like a lot of hassle. Half the time those boards are buried behind some panel or stuck in the back of the unit. Doesn't that take forever to pull out and then put back in?

I once knew a guy who brought the old control knob from a stove to a parts store, and they sold him the wrong one anyway because it "looked close enough". So honestly, dragging the whole main board out of a Frigidaire might be overkill but I get why you'd do it. That board is the brain of the whole fridge, and if you get the wrong revision number you're stuck with a paperweight. I just snap a clear picture of the model and serial number from the sticker, plus a close up of the board's part number with my phone. Works every time and saves me from wrestling with those stupid clips and screws. Have you ever had a supply house guy shrug and say "that number doesn't match anything in our system"?
