Question about a crazy windstorm last Tuesday

A 50 mph gust blew a branch through my studio window right as I was finishing a vocal take. The cleanup took three hours and I lost the recording. Has anyone else had to deal with sudden weather damage to their setup?

Wasn't that storm something else? I had a huge limb come down in my backyard, missed the shed by inches but took out the whole clothesline. The power flickered off and on for hours. You're right, it just wrecks your whole day out of nowhere. Makes you feel like you can't plan for anything anymore.

How much would shutters or some kind of barrier actually help in a 50 mph gust? I saw a video where a shutter just ripped clean off the brick, so maybe the real fix is just moving the important gear away from windows when storms are coming. It's a pain, but cheaper than new glass and lost work.

Man that's a brutal way to lose a take. It seems like these wild weather events are just part of normal life now. My neighbor's fence went down in that same storm. We keep getting told it's the new normal, but it sure messes up a regular Tuesday. It makes you wonder about putting up shutters or something. Sorry about your studio window and the lost work, that really stinks.
