Finally got a client to stop asking for daily check-in calls

Ngl, I had a new client who wanted a 30-minute Zoom every morning just to 'stay in the loop', which was killing our project momentum. After the third week, I showed them our project dashboard and how it updates in real-time, and they agreed to switch to weekly summaries. How do you guys handle clients who want too much hands-on time?

I swore off 'The Bear' after the first episode, but my sister made me watch the second

The chaotic kitchen stress in the pilot was too much for me, but the second episode's focus on the family funeral and the 'seven fishes' story completely changed the show's tone. It went from pure stress to this deep, sad character drama in under an hour. Anyone else have a show that won you over after a rough start?

I used to think those public library computer labs were a waste of space

Honestly, I had to go to the downtown branch last Tuesday to print a permit for a job, and the place was packed. I saw maybe 15 people, mostly older folks and a few parents with kids, all getting free help from a library tech on basic stuff. One guy was learning how to attach a file to an email for the first time, and the tech was so patient. It made me realize that for a lot of people, that's their only access to tech support, and it's a real service. I always figured everyone just googled their problems or brought stuff to a shop like mine. But watching that, I get it now. It's a first line of defense that keeps the really simple, time-consuming calls from clogging up the trade for everyone else. Has your area seen more of these free public tech help spots pop up?

I used to think the moon landing stuff was all crazy talk

I mean, I always figured the flat earth people were just joking around. But then my buddy showed me this old documentary from the 70s, 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Moon', and it took me like three hours to watch because I kept pausing to check the clips they showed against NASA's own footage. Some of the lighting in that command module just looks wrong, idk. Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else gone down that rabbit hole and come out unsure?

Question about a crazy windstorm last Tuesday

A 50 mph gust blew a branch through my studio window right as I was finishing a vocal take. The cleanup took three hours and I lost the recording. Has anyone else had to deal with sudden weather damage to their setup?

Serious question, who designed the self checkout at the big grocery store on 5th?

I was there yesterday and the screen kept asking me to place items in the bagging area, but I already had. It made me do this three times for a single loaf of bread. The 'skip bagging' button was tiny and gray, hidden in the corner. The whole thing took me over five minutes for two items. How is a system that fights you this hard saving anyone time? Has anyone found a store with a self checkout that doesn't feel like a fight?
