I finally understood why our bakery's logo looked cheap after seeing it on a delivery van in Portland last month.
The thin script font we loved on our business cards completely disappeared at a distance, so we switched to a bolder, simpler typeface that you can actually read from across the street, has anyone else had to fix a logo that only worked up close?

My old band's t-shirt logo was a total blur from stage.

Oh man, that reminds me of a local coffee shop here. Their cute little detailed mountain scene logo just turns into a weird green blob on their store awning. It looks great on a mug but awful from down the block. They ended up making a super simple version with just the mountain outline for big signs. It's crazy how something can work on paper but fail everywhere else.

Wait, is it always a bad thing if a logo doesn't scale up perfectly? I mean, @stella_shah89, that coffee shop's detailed mug logo sounds cool for the people who actually buy the mug and hold it. Maybe having a fancy small version and a simple big version is the whole point. It shows you thought about where people see it. Sometimes a logo that's a bit of a mystery from far away can make you want to get closer to figure it out.
