inJust realized that buying a 24-hour public transport pass in Lisbon for 6.50 euros was way better than paying per ride.
Yeah but caleb191, that only works if your plan is just riding around all day. Most people want to actually go into museums or stop for a long lunch, not just look out a train window. Those passes lock you into feeling like you have to keep moving to get your money's worth. I'd rather just buy a couple single tickets and actually enjoy a place instead of worrying about the clock.

inWent to the design museum in Chicago and saw a whole wall of old Photoshop keyboard shortcuts
Actually, Photoshop 3.0 didn't have Command-Z for undo, that came later.

inMet a guy at a trailhead in the Adirondacks who said my $400 tent was a 'waste of money' and honestly, he was right.
But that gear's ready for next time.

inVent: My old website's dark blue on black looked cool to me, but my cousin with color blindness said it was just a gray blob.
I read a study that said around 8% of men have some form of color blindness, which is a huge chunk of users to ignore. It's easy to get lost in aesthetics and forget function, like paul_sanchez said about his invisible button. I saw a talk where a designer showed how their "minimal" form looked like just a blank box to screen reader users. We build things for ourselves first and just hope others figure it out, which is a pretty bad way to make stuff for the public.

inI always thought the John Muir Trail was the longest continuous trail in the Sierra.
It's a serious route that needs real planning. The crossing at Kaweah Gap is no joke, and getting from the Giant Forest to Whitney is a huge change in elevation. You need a solid bear canister setup and to understand the permit system, which is totally different from the JMT. The resupply options are basically zero once you start, so your pack weight is critical.
