PSA: Picked a trendy logo font for my coffee shop and regretted it in 3 months

I was torn between a classic serif and this super modern handwritten script for my shop's sign. Went with the script cause it looked cool on Instagram mockups. But customers kept saying they couldnt read the name from across the street or in low light. Ended up paying $400 to reprint the sign after just 90 days. Has anyone else had a font choice really hurt their store's visibility?

That whole 'looked cool on Instagram mockups' thing is too real. My buddy runs a taco spot and picked this super tight skinny font for his menu board, ended up watching people literally squint at it for 10 seconds before ordering.

@charlie_stone72 that squinting thing is exactly what we ran into. We went with a clean sans serif for our shop and it saved us. Nothing fancy, just straight up Helvetica style letters. Made the letters thick enough and gave them good spacing so people can read it from the parking lot. I learned the hard way too after watching a few customers walk past our old sign thinking we were closed. The trick is to test it at the distance people will actually see it, not just on your phone screen or computer. Go big and bold if you want people to actually find you.
