Saw a logo redesign that lost all its character last week
I was at a diner near my place in Chicago, and they just redid their whole brand. Old logo had this worn out 1950s script that felt real and honest, but the new one is just a generic circle with a fork in it. It looks like every other fast casual spot now. My buddy works in graphic design and he told me companies do this to look modern, but they end up looking empty. I feel like people get so caught up in making things clean that they forget what made them interesting in the first place. Have you ever seen a redesign that totally missed the point of the original?

Same thing happened to a laundromat near me. Replaced their weird neon sign that had been there since 1973 with a generic blocky "LAUNDRY" in blue and white. Now it looks like any other chain place instead of the spot with character where you could watch the dryer spin for 45 minutes.

Dude, did you see what they did to the White Castle logo a few years back? They made it all smooth and modern and it just looks like a weird ghost now instead of that classic castle that felt like home after a late night. I swear these designers are allergic to personality.
