My basement shelving got way easier with a simple jig
I was putting up shelves in my basement and the bracket holes never lined up right. Last week, I cut a jig from some scrap plywood to mark where to drill. It took me 30 minutes to make, but I saved over two hours on the whole job. I used a 12-inch square of 3/4 inch plywood and my old drill press. Now all the shelves are straight and solid. Has anyone made similar jigs for woodworking projects?

Saw a youtube short where a guy made a jig for perfect pocket holes every time. Totally get what @alex_coleman means about it feeling like cheating, but it just works.

Honestly that "30 minutes to make, saved over two hours" part is the real win. Tbh a lot of people skip making jigs because they think it's extra work, but it's the opposite. I made a simple one for drawer pulls so all the holes are the same on every drawer. It feels like cheating, but it just makes everything so much faster and way more consistent.
