Rented a fancy laser level and almost sent it back within 10 minutes
I was leveling a patio base in my backyard in Portland, and the thing kept beeping at me saying it wasn't calibrated right... I was about to throw it in the box and drive back to the rental place. Turns out I had set it up on a patch of soft dirt that was shifting under the tripod legs, not even the level's fault. Moved it onto a concrete paver and it worked perfect for the whole afternoon. Anyone else have a tool they almost gave up on too soon?

Honestly, the "kept beeping at me saying it wasn't calibrated right" part is too real. I swear some tools just have a personal vendetta against us. Ngl, I almost threw a brand-new circular saw out the window because it kept binding up, turns out I was using a dull blade on wet pressure-treated wood. Classic operator error, but man, the rage in the moment is real. At least you didn't drive all the way back and then have the rental guy be like "did you try putting it on something solid?

Made that same dirt mistake once, only I leveled my whole deck off by an inch before catching it.
