So I was building a deck for a client in Tempe last month and my miter saw blade just stopped dead in a piece of pressure-treated 2x8.

Pressure treated lumber can be a real jerk sometimes... had a board pinch a blade so hard once it sounded like a gunshot and I nearly jumped out of my boots. Pretty sure my heart stopped for a second, just like that saw. Makes you feel real smart standing there all wide-eyed.

Man that gunshot sound is no joke, makes your whole body lock up. Brian_bell is right about the brain bluescreen, it's like time just stops for a second while you figure out if you're still in one piece. Did the board actually crack or split when it pinched, or was it just the moisture and tension fighting the blade?

That "wide-eyed" feeling is the worst, like your brain just bluescreens for a second trying to process what just happened.
