My 7-year-old niece asked why my bujo pages are so 'boring'

I was setting up my monthly spread with my usual clean grids and color-coded key, and she pointed at it and said, 'Aunt Emma, where are the dragons?' I told her it was for planning, not stories. She shrugged and said, 'My notebook has a rocket on every page, so my homework feels faster.' It made me realize I treat my bujo like a serious tool, not something that can spark joy on its own. I added a tiny doodle of a dragon in the corner of my weekly log, and honestly, it makes me smile every time I open it. Anyone else ever get a perspective shift from a totally unexpected person?

That part about treating your bujo like a serious tool really hit me. We get so caught up in making it perfect and useful that we forget it is OUR thing. Your niece is onto something. Why shouldn't a tool for your life also bring a little fun? That tiny dragon isnt just a doodle, its a reminder that joy is part of the plan too. Maybe my own pages need a rocket or two.

But for me, the fun stuff just makes it feel cluttered and less useful.

Wait, didn't finleybutler say the fun stuff makes it feel cluttered? I mean, maybe the trick is to keep the fun part small and out of the way of the actual lists. That way it's useful but still feels like yours.
