My old band saw gave out halfway through a big order...

It was a 20 year old Hobart, and the motor just quit on Tuesday while I was breaking down a side of beef. I had to finish the whole job by hand with a breaking knife, which took over two hours longer. Everyone says to just buy a new one, but I'm having a guy from the next town over look at fixing it first. Has anyone else had luck getting an older saw like that running again?

You finished breaking down a whole side of beef by hand? How are your arms even still attached to your body? That's a brutal way to spend two extra hours.

Remember that time my blender died mid-salsa?

Totally get wanting to fix the old one. My dad's old band saw motor went out a few years back and we found a guy who rebuilt it for way less than a new saw. Thing runs like a champ now, honestly better than some new ones I've used. Those old Hobarts are built so solid, it's worth a shot to have it looked at. Finishing that job by hand sounds like a real workout, hope your guy can get you fixed up.
