I just spent $75 on a 'coffee bean of the month' club that sent me decaf

I was so excited to try new single origin beans, but the first bag that arrived last week was clearly labeled 'decaffeinated'. I called the company and they said it was a warehouse mix-up, but they can't send a replacement until next month. So now I have a whole pound of decaf I'll never use. Has anyone else had a weird subscription mix-up like this?

What if this wasn't a mix-up but their way to clear out old decaf stock? I've seen companies use new subscriptions to dump stuff that isn't selling. They call it a mistake, you wait a month, and they've moved their unwanted product. A whole pound is a big "error" for a coffee club. Makes me wonder if their single origin promise is even real, or if next month's bag will just be more leftover beans.

Nah, decaf beans are usually more expensive for them to source, not less. They wouldn't use it as a loss leader to clear stock. A mix-up in the warehouse packing orders is way more likely, it happens all the time with new fulfillment systems.

Feels like everything's a bait and switch these days. I mean, you sign up for one thing and get another, and they always have a ready excuse. Makes you not want to trust any subscription service.
