PSA: Don't buy a color calibration tool without checking your monitor first
I spent $150 on a fancy calibrator only to find out my monitor's panel was too old and couldn't be properly adjusted. The colors still looked off after the whole process. Anyone know a good way to test a monitor's calibration potential before buying the tool?

Ever run the free Lagom LCD test online? That saved me from wasting cash on my second monitor. It shows you if the contrast and color gradients are even fixable before you buy hardware. I found out my old TN panel just couldn't hit the right reds no matter what. Now I check that page first every single time.

Honestly that Lagom test @logansullivan mentioned is a total game changer. Tbh I started using it to check for backlight bleed and dead pixels too before my return window closes. Ngl it saved me from keeping a monitor that had a weird dark spot in the corner. Everyone should run through all those tests when they get a new screen.

That Lagom gradient test showed my old monitor had banding I never even noticed before. Now I run the full set on any screen I buy, even my phone. It's crazy how much you can miss without those solid color screens.
