Figured out why perms were not holding on fine hair after getting advice from a colleague.

Tell me about it. My fine hair won't even hold a thought, let alone a perm.

Used to think my fine hair was a lost cause for perms too. Gave up after two attempts that fell flat in a week. Then my stylist convinced me to try again with way smaller rods and a clarifying treatment first, and somehow it actually took. Still baffles me but my waves lasted almost four months.

Actually had the same fight with my own hair last year. The trick was using a protein treatment before the perm to give it something to actually grab onto. Switched to much smaller rods than I thought I needed too. Went from flat to lasting waves that finally stuck around.
