My new shears completely failed during a precision cut yesterday

I was doing a detailed point cut on a client's bob, about halfway through the left side. The tension screw just snapped, right in my hand. I had to grab my old backup pair to finish, but the line wasn't as clean. These were $250 shears I've only had for 4 months. I'm sending them back, but now I'm nervous about the brand. What's a truly reliable shear brand that can handle daily precision work?

Check that tension screw yourself every few weeks, just a quarter turn with the key. I had a pair of Matsuis do the same thing, screw just sheared off mid-cut on a textured layer. Switched to Hikari for my daily drivers and the build quality is just different, way more solid in the hand. Their customer service is also fantastic if anything ever goes wrong.

Ugh, that's the worst. Honestly, check if your sharpener has been over-tightening the screw during service. Seen that kill a few pairs.
