I wrote a whole novel draft where my main character never left his apartment. My friend asked 'what's the weather like outside?' and I realized I'd forgotten to set a single scene.

My buddy wrote a whole fantasy book and his editor asked what color the sky was. He had to add a line in chapter three saying it was blue. He'd described the magic system for pages but forgot the actual world.

Did the editor ask about the sky color because it was actually a different color in that world? Seems like a weird detail to miss unless it's not blue.

Wait, he wrote a whole book and never said what color the sky was? That's wild... @the_thea, how do you build a whole magic system and forget to tell people what the world looks like? I get being deep in the details, but that's a basic thing you need to picture a place. It's like describing how a car engine works but forgetting to say if it's a truck or a sedan. You just assume it's normal until someone points it out, I guess.
