I was dead set against using clip-path for CSS art until I saw that flower piece on CodePen last Tuesday

Honestly I thought clip-path was just a gimmick for making boring shapes but that artist built an entire hummingbird with multiple layered clip-paths and it looked nothing like a cheap hack, has anyone else been surprised by a CSS property they wrote off?

My buddy was dead set against using CSS grids for anything. He kept saying it was overcomplicated and just used floats for everything. Then his boss made him fix a messy product page with like 20 different card layouts. He spent an entire weekend fighting with floats and negative margins before giving up and trying grid. Called me that Sunday night sounding like he'd seen a ghost. Now he's that guy who tries to put a grid on everything even when a simple flexbox would do. Your mileage may vary but sometimes you just gotta eat your words and move on.

Yeah that whole "wrote it off then got proven wrong" thing happens to me all the time... I figured flexbox was just a fancy way to center stuff until I actually sat down and played with it for a weekend. It's like that old saying about judging a book by its cover. We see something new and our first instinct is to label it as useless or just a trend. But then someone shows you what it can really do and you realize you were just looking at it wrong the whole time.

Wait, have I been missing out on flexbox this whole time? Ngl, I always thought it was just for centering stuff too but now I'm kinda curious to mess with it.
