That day I finally got CSS Grid to do exactly what I wanted
Spent like 4 hours last Saturday wrestling with a grid layout for a client dashboard and it finally clicked when I used grid-template-areas instead of fighting with column spans lol. Has anyone else had that moment where a Grid property just suddenly makes sense after hours of trial and error?

Four hours of CSS grid fights sounds way more fun than four hours of real life fights with kids.

Last summer I spent about three hours helping my daughter debug a flexbox layout for her portfolio site, and it was honestly the most peaceful afternoon I had all week. @kevin_murray88, I learned that if you give the kids a simple CSS challenge of their own, like styling a button, they get quiet and focused too. It's a nice way to swap arguments over screen time for shared problem solving on the same screen.
