Debate: My sister said life plans are overrated and now I'm second guessing everything
She told me over coffee last Saturday that designing your life is impossible because things change too fast, like how she planned to be a teacher and now runs a food truck in Portland. I've always been big on mapping out goals, 5 year plans and all that, but she made a point about being too rigid. Her food truck career started by accident after she lost her teaching job, and she's happier than ever. Is it better to have a loose framework or really lock in your steps? I'm curious how you all balance planning with just seeing where life goes.

Started with a 5 year plan for teaching. Three years in, hated it. Took a bookkeeping temp job just to pay bills. Now I run the accounting for my old firm part time and actually like it. Plans are fine but staying open to the detours is where the good stuff happens.

So you're saying I should throw out my color-coded life spreadsheet and just... wing it? Maybe it's just me but that sounds terrifying.
