TIL a lot of new apps still hide their font size setting in the main menu...

I was helping my aunt with her phone last week and she couldn't find how to make the text bigger in her new banking app. The setting was buried three taps deep under a gear icon, not with the other display options. How do you decide where to put controls like that so people can actually find them?

Oh man, I FEEL this. My dad literally gave up on a grocery app because he couldn't find where to change the font size and just thought the text was permanently too small. It's ridiculous that something so basic gets hidden like a secret level in a video game. I swear some designers have never watched a real person try to navigate their work. Why not just put it under "accessibility" AND in the main display section so people can actually stumble onto it? It's like they're actively trying to make things harder for anyone over 40.

Buried three taps deep under a gear icon? That's just mean. Designers seem to forget that not everyone grew up hunting for hidden menus. Why not put it right next to brightness or display settings where it makes sense? Do they even test these apps with real people before launching?

Ugh, they test with other designers, not normal people.
