PSA: Tried a new lead holder versus my old clutch pencil for a big site plan

The lead holder with 2mm H-grade refills gave me a consistent line weight for the entire 24x36 sheet, no wobble or sharpening breaks. My old clutch pencil needed constant rotation and still went blunt halfway through. Anyone have a preferred brand for those 2mm leads?

Yeah, the line weight thing matters a lot more than some people get. I read an article by a draftsman who said inconsistent lines on a big plan can actually make it harder to read the different layers of information. A blunt pencil makes everything look muddy. Your point about not having to stop and rotate is huge for keeping your flow going.

But is the line weight difference even that big of a deal on a print?

Ever try to find a specific pipe or wire on a crowded print where all the lines are the same thickness? It's a nightmare, man. That weight difference is the only thing that tells your eyes what to look at first. On a big floor plan, a thin line for framing and a thick one for walls makes everything click instantly. Lose that, and you're just staring at a messy spiderweb, lol.
