I swore by hard brushes for months until a random artist on Reddit made me try soft ones today

Honestly, I was the same way with soft brushes for shadows. Always thought they made things look muddy and undefined. But now I'm curious, what finally made you actually try that soft brush after resisting for so long? Was it something specific in that Reddit post that clicked for you, or did you just get bored with your usual style? Ngl, sometimes it takes seeing someone else's workflow step by step to really get why a tool works. For me, it was seeing that artist's layer setup that finally made me understand the whole opacity thing.

Got lost in the Sierra Nevada for 5 hours because of a trail reroute

Oh man, trail reroutes are the absolute worst for that. I did a section in the Sierra where they taped off the old path with this faded pink ribbon that looked exactly like the dried manzanita bark. I walked right past it three times, just circling around like a dumb cartoon character. Ended up bushwhacking through some thick brush for a good hour before I realized I was basically going in a circle. Felt like I was personally selected by the forest service as their official dummy.

Vent: so many new stylists are overlathering during color services

My friend Sarah used to work at a salon and she told me about this one girl who dumped a whole bottle of purple toner on a client's hair... like the entire thing. The foam was dripping down her neck and onto the floor, and the client ended up with these weird gray streaks that wouldn't wash out for weeks. She said the poor girl kept thinking more product would fix the brassiness but it just made everything worse. It's crazy how hard that thin coat lesson is for some people to learn.

My old boss told me to never run the cutter head above 45 rpm in dense clay. He was dead wrong.

Hate it when that happens, man. Feels like you're doing the right thing but you're just wasting time.

Discovered my cheap multimeter was off by 0.5 volts on low range

Oh come on, it's not like a little rain is gonna wreck a good pair of boots... I mean I've had the same $40 pair from Target for like three years now and they're still fine for everyday stuff. Not everything has to be an investment piece, you know?
