Showerthought: I painted my front door with two different sheens to test them
I tried a satin finish on one side and a semi-gloss on the other for a week. The semi-gloss held up way better against morning rain and sun, while the satin started looking dull and spotted after just a few days. Anyone else have a go-to paint sheen for front doors in a wet climate?

That's a bold move, turning your front door into a science fair project. At least now you know which one to use before the whole thing looks like a sad, spotted leopard. So are you going to redo the whole door in semi-gloss now?

Did you see that article about paint sheens? It said semi-gloss is the toughest for doors and trim. Makes sense since it handles all the touching and weather better. I'd totally go with the semi-gloss for the redo.

But what about all that glare? Semi-gloss can look way too shiny in bright sun.
