Found a 1980s newspaper under a floor in Portland and the headline was about a missing cat.

Pulling up old carpet in a house on Hawthorne Blvd, and the whole pad was stuck to this yellowed Oregonian page. The big story was 'Fluffy Still Missing After Three Days' with a tiny picture. We had to stop and read the whole thing, even the ads for rotary phones. Anyone else find weird stuff that makes you pause the demo?

Lay that paper flat and get a photo before it crumbles. I found a 1910s grocery list behind a wall and scanned it right away. The ink fades fast once the air hits it.

That reminds me of a story about a time capsule.

Yeah, that's a cool find... but just a small thing, the Oregonian wouldn't have called it Hawthorne Blvd, it's just Hawthorne. Funny how the paper itself is a little time capsule, like @betty_ward was getting at. Makes you wonder if Fluffy ever came home, or if someone out there still thinks about that cat. Those little everyday stories are what really get me, more than big news sometimes.
