Overheard a foreman at the Canton plant talking about burnout in new hires

He was telling another supervisor that three guys under 25 quit in the last month, all citing the heat and pace. He said the quote that stuck with me was 'we're hiring hands, but we're not training minds.' It made me think we might be rushing them onto the floor without enough time on the basics like reading a heat chart. How does your shop handle bringing green workers up to speed without burning them out?

Used to think speed was key, but mentoring saves time.

Hey @terry_hayes18, I get where you're coming from but I have to disagree! Mentoring can take a ton of time to do right, and sometimes you just need to move fast to get things done. Waiting on a mentor or teaching someone else can really slow you down in the moment. Speed might not be everything, but it sure matters a lot when you're up against a deadline.
