Pro tip: I stopped using a scale for pour overs and honestly my mornings got better
I used to weigh every single bean and time every pour for about two years straight. Then last month I just started eyeballing it with a standard tablespoon measure and pouring by feel. My coffee tastes about the same honestly and I save like 4 minutes per cup. Has anyone else ditched the precision tools and still gotten decent results?

Ditched my scale and timer about six months ago and never looked back. Started just using a standard scoop and pouring until it looked right in the carafe. You're totally right that the extra effort doesn't really change much for daily drinking. I even stopped worrying about water temperature and just use water right off the boil now. Honestly the coffee still tastes great and I'm not stressing over 0.1 grams of beans at 6am. Saved time and my mornings feel way more relaxed.

Wait, are we really acting like using a scale was some huge burden? I mean it takes like 10 seconds to zero out a cup and scoop beans, that's not exactly backbreaking labor lol. Seems like people just want an excuse to be sloppy and call it "relaxed" instead of just admitting they're okay with inconsistency.

Let the chaos begin. Ditching my scale turned my coffee into a 50/50 shot between something decent and a cup of bean water. Some mornings I'm scooping so light it's basically a tea bag, other days I'm putting enough grounds in for a whole pot. The inconsistency is part of the fun now, like a little morning gamble.
