Why I'm pushing back against extravagant, out-of-season wedding flowers

Remember when I thought showing pretty pictures of local flowers would change minds? What really worked was telling them a story. I had a bride last year who wanted peonies in October, so I explained how far they'd travel and how they'd look tired by the ceremony. Then I showed her one local dahlia that had a similar feel. She went for it because she saw the problem, not just a different option.

Showerthought: Rearranging my home office layout reminded me of optimizing team roles.

Remember when they moved the coffee machine away from the sales team to "improve focus"? Suddenly the devs stopped hearing about client complaints until they were full blown crises. So yeah, layouts just magically fix team roles, like a magic wand made of cubicle walls. Guess my old boss missed that memo. What's the worst layout change you've seen backfire?

I finally caved and bought that $25 'ergonomic' vegetable peeler I kept seeing online ads for.

Honestly, I spent like thirty bucks on a fancy potato masher last month. It feels ridiculous but my wrist doesn't ache after making mashed potatoes anymore, so I get it.

The new parking meters downtown are a step backwards

Wasn't the whole point of new tech to make things faster? I used to defend these upgrades, figured they must be better somehow. But after fumbling with one in the rain last week, I get it now. They added a bunch of steps nobody asked for and just made a simple task stressful.

I tried to save $40 a month by switching to a cash envelope system for groceries in March.

An envelope just flapping in the breeze up there?
